it’s funny how the winter blues get so much attention, but the pinks + purples + oranges don’t. why is that?!
winter. dreary, gloomy, cold. the midwest’s frigid temps + unpredictable precipitation can cause any one of us to lose our beans by february. the winter blues can get us down and out in no time.
but what about those winter sunsets. why can the sun hide out alllllllll the day long but then peak out under those pesky clouds and create some of the most brilliant 6-o-clock sun drops?! orange and pink and beautiful, we can’t help but stare, gawk even, at the wondrous color the day lacked until now. somehow, the dullness of the clouds and grey fades in the brilliance of this february sunset. wow. winter pinks, winter oranges.
and what about those long winter nights full of those bright lights. the moon comes up, in it’s fullest full (tonight, actually), and the stars pop out, glistening in the most magical way. those night lights beam over the white covered fields and streets. the snowy ground, white and silvery, illuminates the purple darkness and it beckons us to look down and around and over and up and…. mesmerized we become. winter blues, winter purples.
and here is the metaphor of the day.
thus is life. all the seasons of life do indeed have value. don’t they?
the winters of our lives aren’t only blue. they can’t be only grey. they aren’t. they can’t be.
life’s winters are pink + purple + orange. they’re brilliant + illuminating + silvery + mesmerizing, even through the blues, during the blues, after the blues, with the blues. right?
are you seeing the brilliant sunsets in your winter? can you see the bright night lights of this season?
choose truth. live loved.
